What Winter Reveals

Many of us here in the Northeast are done with Winter!  As the younger generation says, “We’re over it!”  But you still have about a good month and a half to enjoy what Spring, Summer and Fall have hidden, and what Winter reveals. The bare trees bring forth surprises, namely birds’ nests, squirrels’ homes and wasps’ nests.

Yes, this might seem mundane and trivial to some people, but take a look around you.  Instead of rushing through a ride or drive to work, carefully look at the trees.  You’ll  be in awe of where some birds decide to build nests to call home.  And the leafy nests the squirrels build are  high in the trees, some precariously perched in outer branches. Wasps’ nests are really a sight, looking like a silver-gray globe hanging from a single branch.  The ones I’ve seen are hanging over streets.  It’s amazing!  So before Winter is gone, survey your neighborhood and your route when you drive!

As the buds of Spring begin to bloom, these wonders of nature will once again be hidden from plain view, only to reemerge next Winter.
